The Institute of Masters of Wine (North America), together with the Verband Deutscher Qualitäts- und Prädikatsweingüter Association (VDP – The Association of German Quality and Prädikat Wine Estates) is pleased to announce a special tutored tasting, which will be led by Lisa Granik MW and Sheri Morno MW as well as German winemakers, and will highlight wines made from two varieties: Riesling and Spätburgunder. Both recent and older vintages of each variety will be featured allowing for a fascinating and unique look at how these grapes develop and age. The event will conclude with an exquisite vertical of Riesling Kabinett wines.

Austin Wine & Music Festival is taking the year of 2012 to focus on our Texas wineries. Each loyal consumer is invited to experience the wineries in their own estate fruit setting. Discover the vintners who work diligently to cultivate the celebratory vintage known as The Austin Wine & Music Festival. This year we have expanded the 3-day affair into a year round series of events to appeal to your senses. Art festival visitors will have the chance to indulge in the best of both worlds. Art exhibits of different mediums will be found on the grounds including hand crafted stained glass, jewelry, pottery, photography and fine art paintings.

The Spanish take their cheese seriously, consuming it almost daily for everything from tapas to dessert. Spain produces serious wines too, with distinctive styles ranging from the tangy whites of Rias Baixas to the earthy reds of Rioja and the powerful wines of Priorat. You’ll get a chance to learn about some key regions of Spain through wine and cheese pairings, led by a City Winery wine expert and one of Murray’s cheese aficionados.
