ABOUT DIEGO GARCIA
Although raised in an Argentinian family, Diego Garcia launched his songwriting career by reinterpreting the sounds of 1980s Brit-pop artists — namely the Cure and the Smiths — for an audience of 21st century New Yorkers. As the frontman of Elefant, he played a small role in the indie rock scene that swept through New York City during the new millennium, sharing the spotlight with similar groups like Longwave and Stellastar. After releasing their sophomore album in 2006, Elefant took a break while the bandmembers dedicated themselves to other projects. Although the group reconvened in 2009 to record a third album, the reunion proved to be extremely brief, with Elefant announcing its decision to permanently split up in 2010. Garcia moved ahead with his solo ca ...
It was folk musician and storyteller Tom Brousseau who first planted the seeds for Hilary Hahn and
Hauschka’s debut collaborative album, SILFRA, encouraging his friends Hahn, the prodigiously
talented American violinist, and Volker Bertelmann, the German master of prepared piano known
to music fans as Hauschka, to explore one another’s work. The gestation period proved long, but –
over two years later – it takes only a moment chatting to Hahn and Hauschka to recognise thegenuine enthusiasm and excitement that lie behind this ambitious, free-spirited and frequently
innovative collection.

Since we last heard from Shawn Mullins on 2008’s honeydew, the Atlanta-based singer/songwriter and bandleader has undergone a series of transformative experiences, leading to a second coming for the veteran artist. Evidence of Mullins’ newfound level of musical and lyrical ambition courses comes through with Light You Up (Vanguard Records, Oct. 12). This captivating new song cycle will likely be viewed as a flat-out revelation even by Mullins’ most fervent fans.
His experiences included an indoctrination into the collaborative creative process by numerous bouts of intensive co-writing, in one instance putting him atop of the country charts via a key contribution to the Zac Brown Band’s “Toes,” marking his third #1 single, following 1999’s “Lullaby” and the 2006 Triple A/Americana chart-t ...

For years Sam Moore was best known for his work with the historic soul duo
Sam & Dave. The rapid-fire style, built on the call and response of gospel, was fashioned and pioneered by Sam and became the trademark of the duo. Songs like Hold On I’m Coming, I Thank You, When Something Is Wrong With My Baby, Soul Sister, Brown Sugar, Wrap It Up and his monster hit Soul Man catapulted them up both the Pop and R & B Charts. Sam & Dave sold more than 10 million records worldwide.
The music and sound of Sam & Dave became so popular that the duo served as the inspiration for The Blues Brothers parody by Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi.
Though he has tremendous love and respect for the music he created as “the voice” of the duo, S ...
