This annual event with more than 20,000 visitors and will continue to grow, thanks to the strong participation of many people regardless of origin and ethnicity. Because of the tremendous success, the festival has received strong support from state, city, corporate, and communities every year since its beginning in 1992. The festival is also recognized as one of the major special events in South Florida.

The annual Cinco de Mayo celebration at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. May 5.
The event will feature performances of traditional Mexican dances in the Hart-Morris Conservation Center. Athens area elementary students will perform at noon followed by Tyler Ballet Folklorico at 1:00 p.m. and the children’s Tyler Ballet Folklorico at 3:00 p.m.
Athens area restaurants will compete in a salsa contest, which will be judged at 1:00 p.m. Visitors will be able to sample the entries following the judging.
The Blackland Prairie Raptor Center will do walk-around displays of birds including owls and hawks throughout the day. Visitors will be able to see the birds at close range and learn about their abilities and habits.

Celebrate Asia 2012 – A night of entertainment filled with celebrities from various Asian countries, flying to Jacksonville, Florida, especially to support this inaugural event. It will be a fun-filled festivity showcasing dancing lions and dragons, Asian celebrities, live Asian music, traditional Asian cuisine, ballroom dancing and more… all in Jacksonville, Florida. Busan Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra performs both traditional Korean music and contemporary work by some of the country’s leading composers.
Traditional pieces include Haegeum sanjo, a work for stringed instrument and single drum noted for its masterful variety of rhythms and melodies, and Samulnori, which combines the sound of two gongs and two drums. The contemporary works include Boating Song, composer Won Il’s modern rendering of a traditional Gyeonggi Province boating song, and Hong Dong-gi’s The Spirit of Goguryeo, which combines traditional Korean and Western musical forms.

The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival (CDBF) is a free family-friendly festival highlighting Colorado’s rich Asian Pacific American heritage at Sloan’s Lake Park in northwest Denver. A window to the Pan Asian world, this diverse festival is the only one of its kind in the United States. It showcases an array of traditional and contemporary performing arts, cultural customs, cuisine and a marketplace of unique and hard-to-find arts, crafts and vendors, in addition to two days of action packed dragon boat racing.

The Nevada County Italian Festival is run by a volunteer staff of ten officers and ten committee members and dozens of volunteers donating their time, energy and labor twelve months of the year for the annual event.
