The Tampa Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will host its 5th annual Poinsettia Ball on the evening of Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the historic L’Unione Italiana (The Italian Club) located at 1731 East 7th Avenue in Tampa. Cocktail hour begins at 7 p.m. This semi-formal affair will feature delectable food, live entertainment and a premium silent auction. Proceeds will support their scholarship program and other educational initiatives.

The words “Viennese Opera Ball” have long been synonymous with international glamour, romantic elegance and prestige.
The waltz and the Viennese Opera Ball became an important Austrian cultural phenomenon. Over time, the concept of the ball was refined to ensure that the ambiance remained true to the tradition. Thus, in 1877, the first of the “court opera soirees” (known as the “Hofopérn-Soireen”) was staged. Volunteers from across Jacksonville are coming together for an amazing event … Night of Asia, a fundraiser for the victims of Typhoon Sendong in the Philippines. On Friday, March 23rd, hundreds of attendees will arrive at Celebration Church, dressed in festive and even traditional Asian attire, meeting and mingling, bidding on silent auction items, watching performances by local Asian and Asian American talent, enjoying a fine dinner from a wonderful array of Asian restaurants, and dancing the night away.
