If you grew up in Soviet Russia during the 1980s and 1990s, then Yegor Letov and his legendary band Grazhdanskaya Oborona (Civil Defence) were automatically a huge part of your life. Letov is widely considered one of the most important figures in Russian underground punk history and GrOb, one of the most influential groups.
Almost three years have passed since the Letov’s untimely death. He is now considered a recognized musician and is now held in high esteem as both a poet and one of the key spiritual leaders of his disaffected generation.

Pig Out in the Park is open 10am to 10 pm daily and features: free admission, 54 food booths with over 250 different menu items, 82 free concerts on three stages and 3 adult beverage gardens. Nothing is over a measley $8.95.

The Kalamazoo Russian Festival is an all day event with a combination of scheduled programs and open format that runs from 10A to 4P. One of the first things many festival guests like to do is to grab a schedule and mark their “must sees”. At a typical festival we will have at least three musical performances, a theater production, and a vocal choir, with a variety of lectures and ceremonies mixed in. Past years have also seen specialty acts ranging from professional puppet shows, to magicians, and jugglers.
