Multicultural Day is an event by the Friends of Mifflin Square Park group, with the purpose of celebrating the cultural diversity of the park community members by offering ethnic food and performances, as well as providing information to attendees about the friends group and other community groups in the South Philadelphia region. “De Pueblo a Pueblo” (From Town to Town), a citywide celebration of Mexican culture, kicks off this Friday, April 27.
The eight-week festival runs through June 17, honoring Philadelphia’s growing Mexican community.
The celebration includes performances, tours, lectures, film screenings, craft activities and art shows. The event kicks off at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens with photographer Laurence Salzmann’s exhibition Echele Ganas: A Life Left Behind, a collection featuring images of the people of La Sierra del Norte, a rural village in Puebla, Mexico.
The exhibit will serve as the geographic and visual hub of De Pueblo a Pueblo.
