San Diego’s Official Tet Festival, a Lunar New Year Celebration. The 3-day event features authentic Vietnamese cuisines, entertainment and carnival games.
Highlights include: Miss Vietnam San Diego, Mr. Vietnam San Diego pageants, Opening Ceremony celebration with firecrackers and lion dances, a Cultural Village with replicas of historical monuments and their importance to Vietnamese culture.
At night, the venue turns into a concert with local artists, bands as well as top-notch Vietnamese entertainers.
It is a perfect event family events, with many activities for youngsters to do.

Celebrate the Lunar New Year with hosts Ed Lin and Jen Kwok at our first open mic of 2012, featuring the brilliantly funny sketch comedian Angel Yau, who has performed at the NYC Underground Comedy Festival and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, and playwright and 2008 Urban Artists Initiative fellow Carla Ching, whose work has been produced by the Ma-Yi Theatre Company and the Red Fern Theater Company amongst others.

Jump over the bonfires for “Chahr-Shanbeh Souri” on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Persian Center, 2029 Durant Avenue in Berkeley from 6-10pm to shake off the darkness of winter and welcome the lightness of spring, a Persian ritual passed down since ancient Zoroastrian times. The Persian New Year Festival is called Chahar-Shanbeh Souri, which in Persian literally means ‘Eve of Wednesday” because the festival is always held on the last Tuesday of winter, just before the Vernal Equinox or first moment of spring.
In Iran (and parts of Afghanistan and India), it is customary for people to create bonfires in front of their homes throughout the neighborhood and jump over them as the sun sets. Since Persian Center owns it’s own ‘home’ at 2029 Durant Ave., it is thrilled to host this event for Irania ...
