New York City, March 1, 2012 – The spell of spring with its promise of renewal and rebirth ushers in the season for Easter traditions and the making of pysanky (Ukrainian decorated eggs). The month of March begins at The Ukrainian Museum with an exhibition of nearly 300 pysanky, and continues with a line up of workshops on pysanka decorating, a demonstration of this art form, and a baking class in Easter breads.
In keeping with its annual springtime tradition, the Museum is presenting an exhibition of pysanky – the unique Ukrainian Easter eggs known the world over for their intricate, colorful designs. The Purim Ball and Auction has been a venerable JPDS-NC tradition for many years. It is a time for our community to join together and celebrate JPDS-NC and to honor individuals who support our school or who serve as leaders in our community. Last year, nearly 450 guests joined together at the 2011 Purim Ball & Auction, which was held at the National Building Museum.

The general public is invited to tour the Asia Society Texas Center’s new building on Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15 when the Center hosts a free Open House and First Look Festival. Food, performances, and kids’ activities will be part of the fun along with tours of the Center, which features the 273-seat Brown Foundation Performing Arts Theater, 4,000-square-foot Louisa Stude Sarofim Gallery, 3,000-square-foot Edward Rudge Allen III Education Center, and Fayez Sarofim Grand Hall.
The festival marks the opening of Treasures of Asian Art: A Rockefeller Legacy, a not-to-be-missed exhibition of over 60 masterpieces from the Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller Collection housed at the Asia Society Museum in New York. The exhibition continues through September 16.
