19th Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival presents: Jewish Latino Cinema 2012
The San Diego Latino Film Festival is proud to continue its commitment to diversity with this year’s Jewish Latino Showcase. Three features and two documentaries offer a glimpse into the Jewish Latin American experience. These are just a few of many films representing a diverse body of work thats brings light to an underrepresented cultural experience.
While reflecting the Jewish experience, the films first and foremost tell stories that are inextricably Latin American. Like the best of Latin American cinema, they form part of a rich tapestry with a vibrant historical perspective.

This series of documentaries, featuring films made from the 1970s to the present, focuses on the most intimate acts by filmmakers and documentary subjects as they probe into extremely private experiences concerning family, birth, death, loss, and heartbreak. Pushing the genre and subjects into uncharted territories, these films address various issues fundamental to documentary filmmaking: privacy, authority, authenticity, and responsibility. They also offer penetrating contemplations on Japanese society and individual lives.

Get carried away at the 36th Cleveland International Film Festival — the premier film event between New York and Chicago. The CIFF includes a full survey of contemporary international filmmaking with approximately 150 feature films and 130 short subject films from over 60 countries.

13th HAVANA FILM FESTIVAL NEW YORK (HFFNY) takes place April 12-20, with special events April 20th at the Bronx Museum of the Arts, and April 20-22 at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens. The festival represents the great diversity of themes and genres of Latino film making from around the world.
What began in 1985 with 14 films projected onto a concrete wall for 500 viewers, gave birth to the Chicago Latino Film Festival and has developed into a premiere Latino cultural organization with year round, multi-arts programming.
The International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago (ILCC) is a Pan-Latino, nonprofit multidisciplinary arts organization dedicated to developing, promoting and increasing awareness of Latino cultures among Latinos and other communities by presenting a wide variety of art forms and education.
