Annapolis, Maryland—The Kunta Kinte Heritage Festival will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2011, 10 AM to 7 PM at the Annapolis City Dock, in Annapolis, Maryland. The Festival’s location is significant and appropriate because it was the actual location of Kunta Kinte’s arrival to America. The site is now memorialized with a statue of historian and author Alex Haley, a descendant of Kunta Kinte.
Over the years the Festival has grown and it continues to be a historical occasion for African Americans and people from all walks of life to come together.
