China Institute honors The Starr Foundation for their continued generous support of China Institute and Hao Jiang Tian, one of the most talented operatic basses, often heard at the Metropolitan Opera and worldwide, and his wife Martha Liao, founder of the Asian Performing Arts Council (APAC). APAC promotes the understanding and enjoyment of Asian culture around the world, and supports young artists, providing educational opportunities, coaching and lessons to help them improve their craft.

Celebrating 2012 Chinese New Year – Year of the Dragon
Chinese New Year Festival in Washington DC area is sponsored by Asian Community Service Center (ACSC) annually. Iit is a two day in-door events with cultural performances including dragon and lion dances, delicious Asian foods, workshops on Chinese cooking and language, health and business booths, and children’s activities, among other attractions. The 2012 Lunar New Year Parade celebrating the Year of the DRAGON 4710 will include marching bands, floats, lions teams, a mystical dragon, and Miss Friendship Ambassador. Please join us to welcome the New Year as we convey GUNG HEI FAT CHOI to all in attendance!
This year’s parade also kicks off celebrations of the Chinatown Centennial 1912-2012!
