Vibrant dancing, spectacular harmonies and undiscovered music of the Caribbean performed by a vocal and percussion ensemble little known outside of Cuba, The Creole Choir of Cuba have preserved musical treasures from Haiti, Dominica and Cuba within their rich descendant Cuban communities. Miami-Dade Parks & Skyward Kites co-host the event.
The spectacle includes such giant kites as a 100-foot squid, a 20-foot Nemo fish, and a 30-foot scuba man. Local kite-masters will display styles from such countries as Cuba, Haiti, Trinidad, China, Columbia, Peru, and Venezuela. Patrons are encouraged to bring along their own homemade kites to fly. Kites will also be available for purchase starting at $5. Event admission is free. Parking is $6.
