Israeli life and culture comes alive through the lens of nine documentaries, dramas and comedies during the 16th Annual Israeli Film Festival, running February 25th-April 1st. With screenings in venues throughout Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs, the six-week festival features prize-winning films exclusively by Israeli filmmakers. The festival celebrates Israeli cinema with the aim of enriching the American vision of Israeli culture and society through film.

19th Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival presents: Jewish Latino Cinema 2012
The San Diego Latino Film Festival is proud to continue its commitment to diversity with this year’s Jewish Latino Showcase. Three features and two documentaries offer a glimpse into the Jewish Latin American experience. These are just a few of many films representing a diverse body of work thats brings light to an underrepresented cultural experience.
While reflecting the Jewish experience, the films first and foremost tell stories that are inextricably Latin American. Like the best of Latin American cinema, they form part of a rich tapestry with a vibrant historical perspective.

The Center for Asian America Media presents the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival (SFIAAFF) every March. The SFIAAFF is the largest and most prestigious showcase for new Asian American and Asian films in North America, annually presenting approximately 120 works in San Francisco, Berkeley and San Jose. SFIAAFF also features the best in Asian American music and digital and interactive media. Since 1982, the SFIAAFF has been an important launching point for Asian American independent filmmakers as well as a vital source for new Asian cinema.

This series of documentaries, featuring films made from the 1970s to the present, focuses on the most intimate acts by filmmakers and documentary subjects as they probe into extremely private experiences concerning family, birth, death, loss, and heartbreak. Pushing the genre and subjects into uncharted territories, these films address various issues fundamental to documentary filmmaking: privacy, authority, authenticity, and responsibility. They also offer penetrating contemplations on Japanese society and individual lives.
