It’s back, by popular demand! The AANM’s Iftar Dinner + Movie takes place Thursday, August 18.
Iftars are the meals with which Muslims break their daytime fasts during the month of Ramadan, but people of all faiths are invited to this festive event.
It begins at 7 p.m. with a screening ofBudrus, the award-winning 2009 documentary about a Palestinian community organizer,Ayad Morrar (right), who unites local Fatah and Hamas members and Israeli supporters in an unarmed movement to save his village of Budrus from destruction by Israel’s Separation Barrier.
Following is a delicious meal in the Museum’s dramatic Community Courtyard.

Volunteers from across Jacksonville are coming together for an amazing event … Night of Asia, a fundraiser for the victims of Typhoon Sendong in the Philippines. On Friday, March 23rd, hundreds of attendees will arrive at Celebration Church, dressed in festive and even traditional Asian attire, meeting and mingling, bidding on silent auction items, watching performances by local Asian and Asian American talent, enjoying a fine dinner from a wonderful array of Asian restaurants, and dancing the night away.
A $25 donation is requested per person… with all proceeds benefiting charities aiding victims of Typhoon Sendong in the Philippines.

Asia Fest is an annual celebration of “National Asian Pacific American Heritage Month” which has been held in downtown Tampa since 1982. Each year the event has been coordinated by the Asian Coalition of Florida (AACF).
The goal of Asia Fest is to share Asian culture with the public and promote the bond of friendship and better understanding between the East and the West.
The event is FREE to the public and supported by sponsors. Asia Fest presents a colorful, festive celebration that features cultural entertainment and Asian ethnic food representing Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
