Luminous Modernism: Scandinavian Art Comes to America 1912 provides a retrospective look at the first exhibition ever organized by The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF). Titled Exhibition of Contemporary Scandinavian Art, this included 150 contemporary works by some of the most important artists from Norway, Denmark, and Sweden, including Edvard Munch, Vilhelm Hammershøi, and Carl Larsson. It opened in New York in 1912 and traveled to various venues in the United States, with the aim of introducing Scandinavian art to the American public, while also offering a view of Nordic regional modernism.

The California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks invites families to join them for the celebration of Scandinavian Festival and is ready to provide an affordable fun for every participant. The event includes food arrangements, entertainment and demonstrations highlighting Nordic cultures of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, and let you feel surrounded by the vibe and atmosphere of Northern Europe cultures.
The festival will open with the traditional colorful parade of flags featuring Scandinavian dignitaries and Old World costumes and will continue with ongoing music, dancing, demonstrations and lectures.
