Throckmorton Fine Art is pleased to offer an exhibit that both commemorates and compliments the publication of a major work in Latin American photography, Timeless Mexico: The Photographs of Hugo Brehme.
This will be the first exhibit of Brehme’s photography in the United States. The exhibit will also include a sprinkling of work by some of his noted contemporaries in Mexico: Paul Strand, Gordon Abbott, Anton Bruehl, Laura Gilpin, Manuel Álvarez Bravo, Edward Weston, and Tina Modotti. In total, thirty-eight photographs from this formative era in Mexican photography will be exhibited.

Michael Snape (born 1951) graduated from the National Art School in Sydney and has worked for the last forty years as a sculptor, primarily in steel. The upcoming exhibition Sky, which marks Snape’s debut in New York, comprises new laser-cut steel sculptures and paintings, from detailed drawings of the human figure in seemingly infinite amalgamation. Snape balances negative space with multiple figure compositions which address the artist’s concern in forming and shaping a raw material to exhaustive capacity.
Previous works in Snape’s body of work have explored the structures available from compiling single human figures that shared a common rhythm and distance from the viewer. The new works explore the way coupled and grouped figures can be deployed for the same purpose. Snape coaxes each ... 
This stunning tribute to French Impressionist Claude Monet showcases a seasonally changing interpretation of the gardens that inspired his art. In addition, two rarely seen original paintings—one of which has never been shown in the United States—will be on exhibition, and films, concerts, poetry readings, and hands-on art for kids will provide rich insight into the life and work of this renowned master.
