The Springville World Folkfest will bring the color and excitement of traditional folk dance and music from around the world to Springville. This annual production of folk music and energetic dance by musicians and dancers from many lands has grown to become the largest festival of folk dance and music in the United States.
The Springville World Folkfest annually features approximately 300 performers dressed in the brilliantly colored costumes of their native lands. They perform on an outdoor stage located at Spring Acres Arts Park. Each dance group brings a select group of musicians who provide live music for the dancing. The dances, music and even the instruments played offer audiences a taste of many different cultures.

The “Grand Bazaar Street Festival” will showcase the Anatolian Civilizations, Turkic & Balkan cuisines, cultures and traditions, and modern Turkey to all New Yorkers. The festivities will happen on West 41st Street between Bryant Park and Broadway on Sunday, September 25th 2011. The festival is organized by the Turkish Cultural Center New York and supported by TABID, the Turkish-American Business Improvement & Development Council.
During the festival, New Yorkers will experience the Turkish hospitality as they walk through custom-designed world famous Grand Bazaar booths and an Istanbul panorama; experience the devotion of Whirling Dervishes; enjoy the finest Turkic Folklore performances; explore Turkish arts and crafts; and taste a variety of Turkish cuisines.

Catch a special screening of Agnes Varda’s Murs Murs this Wednesday, November 2. The mission of World Arts West is to honor and celebrate culturally diverse dance forms through presentation, education and support of artists and their traditions.
The 2012 Festival features more performances over five weekends, a record 50 Northern California dance companies representing cultures from around the world, including 12 debuts, 15 world premieres, new venues in San Francisco and Berkeley, new participatory events. Building on its past success as the most comprehensive and highly regarded festival of its kind, and responding to both dance community and public demand, the Festival’s presentation reflects the trajectory and the growth of world dance and music in Northern California. Historically, many performances sell out well in advance.
