The Feast of the Blessed Sacrament commences Thursday, August 4th, 2011 with the assembly of the Festeiros (Feast Committee Members) at the intersection of Earle Street and Acushnet Avenue. Led by the Feast President, the Festeiros march in a special procession down Earle Street to Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church which is located at the corner of Earle Street and Madeira Avenue. At the church, Father Daniel O. Reis celebrates a special Benediction to the Blessed Sacrament. The sincere best wishes of the church are then bestowed upon the Festeiros and the Club Madeirense S. S. Sacramento, Inc. for hosting the Feast and for contributing to the well being of the entire community. Kilby Supper (Swiss United Church) offers visitors a taste of community life. The church Kilby Supper has roots in the traditional Swiss celebration of Kirchweihe. This church gathering, an annual event in Switzerland, presents a special meal to welcome church members back from their summer of farming in the high mountain meadows of the Alps.

THOUSANDS TO GATHER FOR 21st ANNUAL ALBANIAN-AMERICAN FESTIVAL IN THE BRONX
Over 2,500 members of the Albanian-American community will gather for the 21st annual Albanian Festival, a colorful celebration of Albanian music and dance. This is the largest Albanian-American cultural event in the United States each year.

WHAT: Now in its 21st year, the annual Albanian Festival is a celebration of Albanian culture, including traditional Albanian clothing such as the xhubleta and chakshir, unique musical instruments such as the cifteli and lahute, and a rare opportunity to listen to and view a variety of Albanian music and dance.

Volunteers from across Jacksonville are coming together for an amazing event … Night of Asia, a fundraiser for the victims of Typhoon Sendong in the Philippines. On Friday, March 23rd, hundreds of attendees will arrive at Celebration Church, dressed in festive and even traditional Asian attire, meeting and mingling, bidding on silent auction items, watching performances by local Asian and Asian American talent, enjoying a fine dinner from a wonderful array of Asian restaurants, and dancing the night away.
A $25 donation is requested per person… with all proceeds benefiting charities aiding victims of Typhoon Sendong in the Philippines.

At a sedenka — a traditional Bulgarian work party — folks bring their knitting and hand crafts, sing, dance, tell stories and eat treats. We’ll be doing much the same with you at our Spring Sedenka! So, bring your knitting, bring your children, and bring your dancing shoes if you like. For a special musical treat Divi Zheni’s “2nd Generation”—Jordan, Kira, and Hunter—will perform a song they have been learning with Tatiana!
This event is a fundraiser to help renovate the church’s Community Supper Kitchen, which feeds over 100 people every week
