Please join us for our Annual Chinese New Year party, at Cipriani’s 42nd Street in New York City. The evening includes a cocktail reception and a banquet style dinner, an awards ceremony, traditional entertainment, the Red Envelope collection and dancing.
China Institute honors The Starr Foundation for their continued generous support of China Institute and Hao Jiang Tian, one of the most talented operatic basses, often heard at the Metropolitan Opera and worldwide, and his wife Martha Liao, founder of the Asian Performing Arts Council (APAC). APAC promotes the understanding and enjoyment of Asian culture around the world, and supports young artists, providing educational opportunities, coaching and lessons to help them improve their craft.
The traditional Red Envelope collection, in support of China Institute’s Summer Study in China scholarship fund, will follow the lion dance. The funds raised will provide support and an opportunity for many high school students from around the country to participate in an intensive language training program for six weeks (equivalent to one year of high school Mandarin) while immersing themselves in Chinese culture and society.
Proceeds benefit China Institute programs.
We do hope that you will be able to join us for this festive evening and continue our tradition of celebrating the Lunar New Year with friends and family!
