The Scottish Law Society Awards Luncheon is held annually during Scotland Week in April to recognize the accomplishments and/or contributions of a member of the American legal community by presenting him or her with the Judge William J. Bauer International Justice Award. This year’s recipient of the award will be Robert D. Grant, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Chicago.
Nominated Judge, U. S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit by President Gerald Ford in 1974, Judge Bauer is one of the most respected and accomplished members of the legal community in the US. The award will recognize the accomplishments and contributions that Scots have made and continue to make to the American legal system.

Please join us for our 9th annual Scotch-tasting at Hillcrest Lodge, in Mount Vernon, WA. This popular event is for members of the Celtic Arts Foundation only. Memberships may be obtained, or renewed, here. Social time will begin at 6:00 pm, with the Scotch-tasting and Dinner starting at about 6:45 pm. The program will include live music and other entertainment, including the Scotch-tasting, courtesy of Diageo. We plan to wrap things up around 9 pm.

Please join us for the 18th annual Skagit Valley Highland Games & Celtic Festival, July 14-15, 2012, at Edgewater Park in Mount Vernon, WA. Held the second full weekend each July, attendance for the Festival surpasses 10,000 people each year. We think of it as a sort of “Scottish 3-ring circus;’ with a wide range of activities for young and old alike.
The Skagit Valley Highland Games is part of an annual circut of competitions held in the Pacific Northwest and Lower Mainland of British Columbia. As such, the quality of performers in solo bagpiping and drumming competitions, bagpipe bands, fiddling, traditional Scottish athletics (the “heavy” events) and Highland dancing is at an extremely high level.
