Chronicles of a Paradise Lost: Filming Absence (Lebanese Cinema 1965-2010)
This tour follows two critically acclaimed programs curated by ArteEast; The Calm After The Storm: Making Sense of Lebanon’s Civil War in association with Film Society of Lincoln Center, and the French Institute’s (Alliance Française) World Nomads: Lebanon program.
Lebanese cinema is relatively young in comparison with that of neighboring Egypt or Syria. Lebanon’s fifteen-year history of civil war, which ravaged the country through 1991, stifled efforts to develop infrastructure for a viable film industry. Collaborating with other local nonprofit, businesses, educational and religious institutions, Real Health for a Whole Community Health Fair will offer FREE basic health screenings and health care presentations provided by medical professionals.
Screenings such as blood pressure, blood sugar, bone density, cholesterol checks, and body fat analysis, dental & optical screenings, will be available and free to the public. Our goal is to advocate for a healthier community while providing much needed services.
This is a FAMILY oriented Health Fair. Free food & children’s activities will be provided.

The International Festival 2011 will be held on the grounds of the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo in Perrysburg, Ohio, Saturday, Sept 17, 2011, from 11 am – 9 pm and Sunday, Sept 18, 2011, from 12 pm – 6 pm. The festival will feature foods from Lebanon, Pakistan, Egypt, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Turkey, and more. There are games and rides for the children along with a petting zoo and camel rides. There are vendors of ethnic clothing and religious books and other vendor booths. Tours of the Center are conducted and are finished off with a visit to the Cultural Display area. Parking is $3 per car and this includes a program book.

The St. George Maronite Catholic Community will host a Lebanese Festival (Friday, November 4th through Sunday, November 6th 2011) to share the beautiful heritage of the Lebanese tradition with San Antonio and surrounding communities at-large. This promises to be a fun-filled family cultural celebration showcasing the Lebanese of San Antonio and the rich heritage that has been preserved since the Lebanese first immigrated in the 1880’s. Visitors will enjoy authentic Lebanese food, indoor stage performances by the Lebanese dance troupe, learn how to Dabke (the traditional folk dance of Lebanon), enjoy Friday and Saturday evening performances featuring a live band and so much more.
TICKETS: $ 3 for adults (12+), $1 for children under 12 and free parking.
